Fully Funded PhD and Master's Positions
The Department of Medicine and Surgery, in collaboration with the Department of Pathology and Parasitology and the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), invites applications from highly motivated and qualified individuals for fully funded PhD and Master’s positions under a sub-project of the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) initiative.
This interdisciplinary research program aims to build national capacity in small animal health through innovative research, strategic collaboration, and knowledge dissemination. Selected candidates will contribute to one or more of the following thematic areas:
Thematic Research Areas:
Epidemiological and Molecular Characterization of Cancers in Dogs and Cats: Integrating Liquid Biopsy, Oncogene Profiling, Biomarker Discovery, and Chemosensitivity for Advancing Precision Oncology.
Molecular surveillance and genomic insights into companion animal diseases-focusing on advanced molecular diagnostics, surveillance, and whole genome sequencing of bacterial, viral, parasitic, and metabolic diseases of dogs and cats.
Rabies control, prevention, and digital innovations-emphasizing one health strategies, app-based solutions for dog and cat bite management, and community-driven rabies elimination programs.
Funding & Support:
PhD Fellows: BDT 50,000/month (for 3 years)
Master’s Fellows: Stipend to be determined based on academic merit and research experience (12 months)
Eligibility Criteria:
PhD Applicants:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or relevant fields
A master’s degree on:
o Veterinary Medicine, Surgery, Epidemiology, Pathology, Parasitology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or closely related disciplines.
Proven experience in:
o Molecular and microbiological techniques: PCR/qRT-PCR, cancer cell culture, basic microbiological techniques, gene cloning, etc.
o Candidates with background in bioinformatics or computational biology are highly preferred.
Minimum CGPA of 3.25 (in 4.00 scale)
Must fulfill the PhD admission requirements of CVASU
At least one first-author publication in a Q3 or higher-ranked journal, and one additional publication in a peer-reviewed journal
Strong interest in both laboratory-based and field-based research
Master’s Applicants:
A Bachelor’s degree in:
o Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related fields
Basic practical knowledge of:
o Bacteriological, parasitological, and molecular techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCR
Willingness to participate in both laboratory and field-based components of the research
Must fulfill the MSc admission requirements of CVASU
